Each week through the holiday season, I will be featuring different holiday traditions that bring families closer.

In recent years the Christmas Holiday has quickly made its way to the top of my favorite holiday list.  This is a time that my entire family, from grandparents to the smallest of cousins all get together for great food, awesome fun times and many many laughs from the early afternoon to late into the night.

We are not a typical family. As our family has grew over time and with many celebrating the holidays in multiples with immediate family, parents and even in-laws, we’ve adapted our family gathering. Long gone is the traditional turkey, stuffing mashed potatoes and gravy. Instead we’ve created our own special tradition.

Each year, we decide on a location, anywhere in the world. Then in secret, each family chooses a super secret costume and a specialty dish for that specific location.  A few examples of locations have been China, Italy, England and Texas.

Texas has been my favorite holiday theme. After all we are huge Dallas Cowboys fans and who doesn’t like BBQ Ribs? We came prepared and dressed to the nines in our finest outfits.
I’m super excited for this year’s theme, we’re headed to France!!!!!

The Importance of Investing In Your Health

The Importance of Investing In Your Health

Today our health is at risk more than ever before. We live in a society that is saturated with fast and convenient food. This food often leaves our body’s lacking its essential nutrients that it needs to be our best, and reduce future health risks. Today I am so excited to welcome guest author, Grace Cannon, to talk to us today about how we can can improve our overall health and nutrition. Grace is a certified personal trainer, yoga instructor and Wellness Coach.

The Importance of Investing In Your Health

Your body is a machine that takes us through this life. Without proper care of this machine it will begin to fall apart. The “check engine” light of the body shows up in the form of fatigue, stress, acne, inflammation, weight gain, etc. We can not expect to live out our life purpose and to be the best form of ourself without proper care of the vessel that carries us.

The body is constantly regenerating with the nutrients you place inside of yourself. In fact, most of our body is under constant renewal. This fact alone is a huge reason why food should be judged by its “fuel” content not just by taste alone. We literally become what we eat!

According to the New York Times, the skin is recycled every two weeks, the adult liver that battles all of the toxins we consume lasts 300 to 700 days. The adult skeleton structure renews every ten years! The only part of the body that sticks around is our eyes, the inner section of our brain and the muscle cells of the heart. It is your job to protect this amazing, regenerating machine you own so that you can fulfill your purpose! This world needs you to be the best (regenerating) self you can be!

Fortunately for busy and active families, there is a product that is made of the highest quality organic superfoods on the market, combined with the most recent scientific research to help! It is called the Kyani Triangle of Health! It is a simple, powerful, easy to use wellness system.

As an adult, there a very few surprises that happen. When I was little, I used to love receiving mail, now in my adult life, it seems to only be bills (yay, right?).  So subscription boxes are my new favorite obsession! Who doesn’t love to receive a package in the mail and be surprised by the goodies inside?! I know I do!

Its nice to purchase a subscription box that not only gives me awesome products, but supports those who do real world good. CREATIVE SAC BY URBANA SACS

I am excited to try out this cute little tote! It’s handmade in Los Angeles out of recycled materials, and can be washed and reused over again!

THANK YOU CARDS (six pack) BY GRAMR GRATITUDE CO.

TEA TRAVELER PACK BY HOBBS TEA

img_4548

This tea lover is extremely happy to find this in my CAUSEBOX! Hobbs Tea is organically grown in Hawaii by local tea farmers. The Hobbs Tea Traveler pack comes with 5 different tea bags. The the cool thing about these tea bags is that each bag can be reused up to 7 times! How cool is that?!

IRON SUPPLEMENT BY LUCKY IRON FISH

When I first took this little fish out of the box, I wasn’t sure what to do with it. After reading into the company, Little Iron Fish, I am so excited to use it! What you do is add the iron fish to any boiling water, broth or pot and it adds 90% of your needed daily iron intake. Over half the world doesn’t get enough iron each day. This can lead to many health problems, including anemia. The iron fish is reusable up to 5 years! Part of every proceed goes back to help give an iron fish to those in need. Pretty cool, huh?!

I love this quote and I believe it’s so true, especially as a teacher. We need to celebrate the good things in life, instead of always focusing on the negative. I will be framing this and hanging it in my classroom!
